Dropped blob-body construction rule. Brand distinctiveness comes from rendering style + pink ownership + energy/vibrancy, not character construction method. Characters can have human proportions, clothes, expressive bodies. Blob was a means to an end (simplicity, distinctiveness) but the tournament showed that Abstract Marinelic, Sunburst Retro, and Emotional Flat styles produce more vibrant, energetic results with non-blob characters. The 'unmistakable' quality comes from the aesthetic, not the shape.
